1In one sentence
Teams can add Claude to Slack and tag it in a channel like a colleague, and it answers, summarizes and does tasks right there.
2New words
- Slack — the team chat app many companies use. Messages live in channels and threads.
- Tag (or mention) — typing @Claude in a message so Claude sees it and replies in the thread.
- Team and Enterprise plans — the company plans of Claude. Claude in Slack is only on those, and an admin installs it.
3Why you would want it
Much of a team's work happens in Slack threads: decisions, questions, handovers. Tagging Claude in the thread gets the summary, the draft or the answer where everyone can see it, without anyone copying the thread into a separate tool.
4Try it now
(Team or Enterprise plan; an admin installs the app)
- Ask your Slack admin to add Claude from the Slack app directory and connect it to your Claude workspace.
- In a busy thread, type: @Claude summarize this thread and list the decisions and who owns each.
- Then: @Claude draft a short message to the client confirming the two decisions.
5What you will see
[picture pending: a Slack thread with Claude's summary reply; needs a Team workspace] A reply in the thread with the summary, the decisions and the owners, and then the draft, which a person reads and sends.
6Watch out
- Claude sees the channels it is invited to, nothing else. The admin controls that.
- Anything it drafts in Slack is visible to the channel. Keep sensitive drafts to a direct message with Claude.
